The French F1 Grand Prix, scheduled for June 28 at the Paul Ricard circuit in Le Castellet, has been canceled. The announcement was made this Monday, April 27, by the organizers.

President Emmanuel Macron had announced on Monday, April 13, the ban on “events with a large public” in France “at least until mid-July next.”

The consequence is therefore logical: “Given the evolution of the situation related to the spread of the virus (…), the French Grand Prix acknowledges the decisions announced by the State, making it impossible for our event to be maintained,” said Eric Boullier, general director of the French GP, in a statement.

For the F1 circuit, the start of the 2020 season will therefore be in Austria, at the Red Bull Ring in Spielberg (center), from July 3 to 5, probably “without spectators,” CEO Chase Carey announced on Monday.
