For several years, the Departmental Council has been pursuing an ambitious policy to promote the maintenance of a strong agriculture in the Alpes-Maritimes. Thus, the community strives to stimulate local agriculture, which boasts nearly 1,700 farms and 162,000 hectares utilized.
Since the beginning of the health crisis, the Department of Alpes-Maritimes, in conjunction with the Alpes-Maritimes Chamber of Agriculture, has been working to support and assist farmers.
Today, the community continues its commitment by supporting Agrigeodirect, the first mobile application that allows farmers to connect directly with consumers and food professionals worldwide.
The Department of Alpes-Maritimes thus grants a subsidy to the Chamber of Agriculture to cover the subscriptions to the application for all farmers in the Alpes-Maritimes who wish to join this initiative for a period of one year. The objective is to encourage their registration on the platform.
For Charles-Ange Ginรฉsy, president of the Departmental Council: “It is essential to promote local agriculture by establishing short supply chains to support direct sales. Thanks to this application, farmers in the Alpes-Maritimes will be able to list themselves and thus offer their agricultural products to the general public and food professionals.”.
