After the turbulent episodes of the yellow vests and the Geneviève Legay case, the Syndicate of Lawyers of France, the League of Human Rights, and the MRAP have decided to set up an observatory to combat the existing authoritarian abuses in the department.
A model inspired by large metropolises like Nantes or Toulouse. It is a collective response that must assert itself in a tense political context following numerous episodes of demonstrations in France. Associations like Tous Citoyens and ADN support this observatory, which will intervene on: cases of police violence, prohibitions, and actions contrary to the fundamental principles of rights such as the right to protest, assembly, expression, movement, individuals attacked for their actions or mobilizations, people who are victims of discrimination due to their supposed or actual belonging to a given group, and anyone deprived of their fundamental rights. Furthermore, the observatory will be based on collected information and on-the-ground realities.
The observatory has set objectives: to collect information, organize observation teams, and analyze the collected information based on its relevance and reliability.
Another challenge: observing migrants
The collective can also organize missions to gather and make public the situation of migrants in the department, thereby reporting the abuses of people who cannot file a complaint and expressing a sometimes difficult daily life.
