This Thursday marked the presentation of the new Micro-Folie in Nice. A first for the Alpes-Maritimes department. The presentation was attended by Charles Ange Ginésy and the deputy, Eric Ciotti.
A cultural revolution is taking place in the heart of Nice. Soon, tourists and visitors will have the opportunity to digitally access all that is most beautiful and sublime about French culture through a website. This is the purpose of a Micro-Folie, a cultural initiative launched by the Ministry of Culture in 2018.
“Here, soon, just for you, is the opening of the departmental Micro-Folie in Nice” can be read in large letters on the walls of the city’s future digital museum. Located in Old Nice, a place of tradition and culture, and built in a 300m² building from the ground floor to the first floor, the Micro-Folie will offer a large number of technological amenities.
A museum like no other
Although there are 80 in France, this future Micro-Folie will be the very first in the Alpes-Maritimes. Thanks to its digital museum, visitors will be able to admire all the priceless treasures and artworks from the greatest French, regional, and international museums (Louvre, Picasso, Centre Pompidou, Paris Opera, Musée d’Orsay…).
The Micro-Folie will also include a FabLab. A digital fabrication workshop (3D printer, scanners, heat press…). Artists and art school students will have access to it for their artistic projects. Not to mention the room dedicated to virtual reality which offers a series of documentaries, musical experiences, and art shows filmed in 360°.
A new project for the younger ones?
“We wanted to attract the younger visitors using the same means as them, through technology: mobile phones, computers, networks, the Internet…” , states the president of the Alpes-Maritimes department, Ginésy, visibly satisfied with the progress of the work. In about a month, visitors will be able to explore the world of art with the new Micro-Folie in Nice.
