“Congratulations!” can be heard in one of the rooms of the Palais Lascaris. The twenty or so guests present for the occasion give a loud round of applause to Sandra Chatron, honored for her entire performance. To beautifully conclude the gathering, the harpist plays a little tune, delighting the audience present.

Born in 1974, a graduate of the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique de Paris in 1994 in harp and chamber music, Sandrine Chatron (pictured above) is a laureate of the Louise Charpentier Competitions (1998), Chamber Music of Arles (1999), and the Foundation Banque Populaire (2000).

She is currently the Principal Harpist at the Netherlands Philharmonic Orchestra since 2009, a Professor at the Conservatorium van Amsterdam, and a Harp Professor at the Haute École de Musique de Genève.

The Gisèle Tissier-Grandpierre Foundation–Institut de France

This foundation aims to highlight ancient musical instruments and various collections, bequeathed to the Institut de France, presided over by Mr. Xavier Darcos.

The Gisèle Tissier-Grandpierre Prize, amounting to €15,000, is awarded to a harpist (French or foreign) whose musical career deserves recognition.

The occasion and timing seem well chosen. Awarding a musical art prize in a palace housing a vast collection of rare ancient musical instruments. With all these treasures, the Palais Lascaris of Nice holds the second largest public instrumental collection in France, after the Cité de la musique-Philharmonie de Paris.
