The data from the public health agency Santรฉ publique France reports 427 deaths recorded in hospitals over the past 24 hours, bringing the total number of coronavirus-related deaths to 46,700 since the start of the epidemic in France.
However, the pressure is slightly easing on intensive care units, even though they remain under significant strain: 4,759 COVID-19 patients are in intensive care, including 361 new admissions in 24 hours.
This marks the second consecutive day that the number of COVID-19 patients in intensive care has modestly declined: there were 4,838 yesterday and 4,919 on Monday.
Furthermore, there are 32,811 people carrying COVID-19 hospitalized this evening (regardless of the severity of their condition), compared to a record 33,500 the previous day, a level not reached during the first wave in spring.
