This derby was for Cannes – the bottom-ranked team in the championship – a match of last hope, and for Nice – comfortably seated in the qualifying spot for the play-offs – just a game of prestige.
As often happens, it was the team that was hungrier that won, even though the battle was fierce.
Despite being at the bottom, Cannes managed to secure a home victory against Nice (ranked 6th) in a match that ended in a tie-break (25-23, 22-25, 11-25, 25-17, 15-8).
The Dragons have won four of their last six matches, which could completely reignite the race to avoid relegation, primarily contested with Poitiers.
