The mayor of Nice is the lead candidate on Renaud Muselier’s list in the Alpes-Maritimes. With his list, he aimed to cast a wide net, a broader approach he has advocated for several years. His ambition is to do everything to block Thierry Mariani’s list.
After thanking the large audience, Christian Estrosi emphasized that the regional candidates figuratively represent all the rich diversity of the Alpes-Maritimes and that the candidates from Nice for the departmental elections are united to advance this territory.
He then continued: “They are all united to continue the action started for the region, the department: more equity for all our territories, unwavering support in crises against those who see these elections as just a stepping stone for other ambitions.”
In his speech, he returned to the core focus of Thierry Mariani’s campaign, security, to denounce the overpromising: “He says he will allocate €1.2 billion for security out of a €2 billion/year budget. How will he fund other responsibilities? This is not serious and right-wing voters will realize it during this campaign.”
Can you overlook the recent controversy with “his” party, the Republicans, which he just left? No, of course not! “It’s not me who changed but those who do not stand against the far right,” he said, before reminding that “those who a month ago called me malicious are now calling for votes to prevent RN candidates from winning key regions like ours. Where is the coherence?”
“We seek to add up, to come together,” said Anthony Borré, the first deputy of Nice. He is the one who presented the candidates for the departmental election in Nice’s nine cantons.
