New development of the port of Nice

Latest News

Nice is a city in constant change.

In a bid for modernization and urbanization, the city’s mayor, Christian Estrosi, officially announced that within two years the port district would be renovated.

Numerous developments are going to be implemented. The aim of these upcoming changes is to put pedestrians at the center, notably by creating numerous pedestrian areas, spaces that highlight businesses, and green spaces. Cars will also have their place in this new landscape. Ecology is at the heart of modern concerns, which is why it is important for the city of Nice to look towards a green future.

The residents of the port have actively participated in the implementation of this project. By attending around sixty meetings, and also by proposing their own developments that might be useful to them.

Try to visualize:

  • 1150 m2 of greening with Mediterranean trees
  • Refurbishment of the port church
  • A new commercial space
  • A pedestrian area by the water
  • A two-way bike path
  • An electric car charging station
  • Rearrangement of Fodรฉrรฉ Street
  • Creation of a fish market for the fishermen to revitalize their activities.
  • A shaded cultural trail with trees
  • An elevated walkway over the water linking the Promenade des Anglais, the Quai Rauba Capeu, and the port.

โ€œI want the port and the city to be reconnected to make it a great place for the Niรงoise way of lifeโ€ โ€” Christian Estrosi
