The number of cases increased this Friday since 4,580 new cases were detected compared to 4,442 the previous day. The test positivity rate, on the rise, stood at 1%.
The Delta variant is rapidly overtaking other strains of the Covid-19 virus in France and already accounts for “almost 50%” of infections.
The scientific council, concerned about a still “too low” vaccination coverage rate, called this Friday for stricter measures to combat the Delta variant, notably mandatory vaccination for healthcare workers.
The scientific council also recommends lowering the threshold (currently set at 1,000 people) for events subject to a health pass (vaccination or negative test) and implementing “partial restriction measures” in the most affected areas, “including in July and August and in vacation areas as has been recently done in Portugal.”
The รlysรฉe, during the announced address for Monday evening, could nonetheless detail the measures decided by the Covid-19 Defense Council, which will be held Monday morning at the รlysรฉe, to decide notably on mandatory vaccination for healthcare workers and the extension of the health pass.
