The Administrative Court has rejected the City of Nice’s request for the closure of the mosque in the Var plain (1, rue Pontremoli).
We won’t revisit this lengthy saga, except to remind that the justice system, on multiple occasions, has consistently ruled against the municipal administration’s attempts to reclaim this property to prevent the En-Nour association from carrying out its religious and cultural activities.
On each occasion, the motivations presented by the Nice municipality have been rejected, first by Prefect Colrat, then by the Administrative Court, and finally by the Council of State. The Public Prosecutor dismissed the City’s complaint about administrative irregularities in financing the site’s renovation work as well as illegal financing from foreign funds.
Christian Estrosi, who seems to have made it a personal issue, reacted and announced that the City would appeal: โI acknowledge the Administrative Court’s decision to reject our request to refuse the opening of the premises located at 1 avenue Pontremoli. The judgment of the Administrative Court is against the City of Nice on the grounds that there aren’t enough places of worship in the City of Nice! This assertion is unacceptable and we contest it.โ
This case is part of the management of Muslim religious associations, rivalry among them, and sometimes the balance or imbalance between the communities’ countries of origin.
Some associations are within the municipal fold, while others remain outside, hence itโs necessary to hinder their activities to please the affiliates.
Thus, issues like sharia and others are brought up!
