Humanitarians Cédric Herrou (and Pierre-Alain Manoni) will be retried.

The Court of Cassation annulled, this Wednesday afternoon, the double decision of the Aix-en-Provence Court of Appeal that had sentenced the two humanitarians to suspended sentences.

Since judicial decisions are not to be commented on but only applied, we will stick to the fact that the two pro-migrant individuals were not acquitted but will be retried by the Lyon Court of Appeal, likely by the summer of 2019.

To the advantage of Cédric Herrou and Pierre-Alain Manoni, there is the change in the legal framework: on July 6, the Constitutional Council deliberated on “the principle of fraternity,” a principle incorporated into the law on September 10, which introduced the principle of humanitarian exception into the law.

Since the events, Cédric Herrou has become a media figure, and many wonder if some of his actions adhere to the principle of solidarity or his self-promotion.

It must be said that he is quite comfortable in the role. Are we purely imagining when we suggest a political future for him?
