A convention was signed yesterday afternoon in Nice.

In the presence of Philippe Manassero, President of the Departmental Olympic and Sports Committee of the Alpes-Maritimes, and many Olympic and Paralympic champions from the region, such as Alain Bernard. Charles Ange Ginรฉsy, President of the Alpes-Maritimes Department, and Thierry Rey, Special Advisor for the organization of Paris 2024, signed the Convention between the Alpes-Maritimes Department and the Paris 2024 Olympic Games Organizing Committee for the passage of the Olympic flame through the 06.

Through the label “Terre de Jeux 2024”, this historic event encourages all territories of France to engage in the Olympic and Paralympic adventure. It will be the 3rd time in its history that the 06 will host the flame relay, and Charles-Ange Ginรฉsy welcomed this commitment of the department with the state for this historic event.

“I am proud to sign the Convention with the Paris 2024 Olympic Games Organizing Committee for the passage of the Olympic flame in the Alpes-Maritimes! In 2020, we obtained the “Terre de Jeux 2024″ label. The departmental council supports the Azurean Olympic movement. Sport deserves an ambitious policy, which contributes to the attractiveness of our territory through major national and international events, but also to its preservation and enhancement, to allow everyone to enjoy our incredible natural heritage!”

The Flame Relay in the Alpes-Maritimes will be a true celebration throughout the department, with the crossing of iconic locations, many activities mobilizing the sports movement and local associations: “The Department of the Alpes-Maritimes intends to play a full role in this sports, tourism, and festive dynamic. No fewer than 36 maralpines municipalities have obtained this label. Together, they are committed to bringing the emotion of the Games to life on a local scale and for as many people as possible…”

The precise route of the Flame Relay in the 06 is still under construction. It will be revealed in the coming months by the Alpes-Maritimes Department in conjunction with the Paris 2024 Organizing Committee.
