The Rue de la Liberté under construction again, Christian Estrosi apologizes to the people of Nice.

Latest News

While the renovation of Liberty Street had been completed last November, work had to resume due to the fiber network being damaged during the initial construction.

The initial works involved widening the sidewalks, creating safe bidirectional bike lanes, which means only one lane dedicated to other vehicles, and also planting trees, green plants, and flowers.

Unfortunately, during the development of the bike lane on Liberty Street, the fiber network was damaged. The mayor announced yesterday that all costs and expenses related to this work will be entirely borne by the responsible company, and he also apologized to the people of Nice.

In light of this staggering situation, which I understand causes confusion, I would like to extend our apologies to the residents, shopkeepers, and users of the bike lane for the disturbances caused by this new work.

These new works are thus limited to the repair of the fiber network and concern only the bike lane on Liberty Street (between Avenue Jean-Médecin and Emile Négrin passage). The red coating of the bike lane will be redone across the entire width of the lane.

I have asked the general director of technical services to do everything possible to reduce these nuisances.

Christian Estrosi
