The Nice midfielder played his second match of the competition today. Unfortunately for the former Arsenal player, it did not go well.
After the draw against the United States (1-1), Aaron Ramsey’s Wales faced Iran in a match that was expected to be very balanced.
Once again in the starting lineup, Ramsey played the majority of the game before having to make way for a goalkeeper to compensate for the dismissal of the starting goalie, Wayne Hennessey.
It was this red card in the 87th minute that changed the course of the match, as the Welsh ultimately succumbed in the final moments. It was Roozbeh Cheshmi (90+8′) and then Ramin Rezaeian (90+11′) who allowed Iran to collect 3 crucial points for qualification.
Wales thus finds itself at the bottom of the group and will be obliged to beat England on Tuesday.
