The tram station of line 1 “Acropolis,” between “Palais des Expositions” and “Garibaldi,” has been renamed. This name change is causing confusion, and we’re here to explain why.
As part of the extension project of the Promenade du Paillon and the deconstruction of Acropolis, the Rรฉgie Lignes dโAzur is adapting its network for greater coherence. Thus, the โAcropolisโ station has become โRรฉpublique.โย
Why โRรฉpubliqueโ? The former โAcropolisโ station is located on Avenue de la Rรฉpublique and in the neighborhood of the same name. Itโs therefore quite naturally that it now bears this name.
The announcements on the tram cars as well as the screens inside them have been modified. However, the posters at the shelters and the paper maps still indicate โAcropolis.โ This difference in naming is a source of confusion for tourists and other users. The updates are in progress and will be completed by the end of May (website and app, digital maps, and transportation network facilities adjacent to future environmental and urban developments…). Conversely, for the paper maps, the annual reissue in September will be necessary.
