The PromโClassic, the must-attend first 10 km race of the season, celebrated its 18th edition this Sunday.
In tribute to the victims of last July 14th, no events can take place on the Promenade des Anglais until July 2017, so the PromโClassic had to rethink its course and offer a new race format for a special edition.
It was with joy and good spirits that the participants set off on the Mathis road to finish at the steps of the Nice Acropolis Congress and Exhibition Center.
There were 5,232 participants, confirming the popular success of this event.
Among the men, it was a quartet race with Mohamed Moustaoui winning the race in a sprint finish in 29โ05โโ, ahead of Abdelatif Meftah (29โ18โโ), James Theuri (29โ23โโ), and Pierre Urruty (29โ28โโ). Further back was Yohan Durand, the top favorite, who finished in 30โ01โโ.
Among the women, the fastest was the favorite Laurane Picoche, a regular at the event, who secured victory in 33โ57โโ, ahead of Angรฉlina Gours in 34โ48โโ and Julie Chuberre Dode in 34โ56โโ.
