Mandatory mask-wearing extended again in the Alpes-Maritimes

The people of the Maralpins will have to wait a little longer to take off their masks.


On October 18th, the mandatory mask requirement was extended in the department until Tuesday, November 2nd. Today, it has been extended again for 14 days, until November 16th. This was announced by the prefecture of Alpes-Maritimes.

For anyone aged eleven and older, wearing a mask will remain mandatory in the following public spaces in all communes of the Alpes-Maritimes department:

  • covered and open-air markets,
  • flea markets, clearance sales, car boot sales, and open-air flea markets organized in public or usually accessible areas,
  • pedestrian urban streets,
  • areas where road traffic is limited to 20 km/h,
  • shopping malls and similar spaces in large and medium-sized stores, as well as their parking areas,
  • zones in town centers and shopping districts characterized by a high concentration of people,
  • during events held in the department’s territory,
  • within a perimeter of 50 meters around the entrances of nurseries, schools, colleges, and high schools, 15 minutes before and after opening and 15 minutes before and after closing of these establishments,
  • within a perimeter of 50 meters around the access points of artistic and higher education institutions during their operational hours,
  • within a perimeter of 50 meters around the entrances of public buildings where wearing a mask is mandatory according to the current regulations,
  • in establishments, places, and events where access requires the presentation of a health pass.

Only natural spaces, urban/coastal green spaces, and waterfronts will be exceptions to this mandatory mask-wearing requirement.
