The 32nd Italian Cinema Days begin at Espace Magnan

Latest News

The day before yesterday evening at Espace Magnan marked the inauguration of the 32nd edition of the Italian Cinema Days, which runs until March 25. Present were the Italian consul in Nice, Raffaele De Benedictis, and Christian Dalmasso, President of the Association of Italian Teachers of the Alpes-Maritimes and the Var.

The festival showcases the best of contemporary Italian cinema: 14 films in the original language with subtitles, including the French premiere of the dramedy โ€œUn bacioโ€ by Ivan Cotroneo. The Neapolitan director will present his film next Friday at 9 p.m. Among the most interesting titles, we recommend the exuberant โ€œLa pazza gioiaโ€ by Paolo Virzรฌ, the intense โ€œAnime Nereโ€ by Francesco Munzi, and the documentary winner of the Golden Bear in Berlin, the masterful โ€œFuocoammareโ€ by Francesco Rosi. The competition includes two awards, the Audience Award and the Young Jury Prize.

The film chosen for the opening is the delightful comedy โ€œLoro chiโ€? by Francesco Miccichรจ and Fabio Bonifacci, a sort of โ€œMatchstick Menโ€ in a Roman version. The comedic and transformative talent of Marco Giallini is embodied in the con artist Marcello who, along with two sexy accomplice women, robs communication expert Davide (Edoardo Leo) the day before the presentation of a revolutionary household appliance patent. Davide will chase the trio of wandering crooks across Italy, from the Dolomites to Trani, becoming their accomplice and discovering the best con techniques.
A charming work that reprises a โ€˜maskโ€™ dear to Italian comedy, that of the creative swindler, which made the fortune of Totรฒ and Nino Taranto, sublimated by the natural beauty of Apulia and Trentino. The verve and dynamic rhythm of the film were appreciated by the audience at Espace Magnan, who came in large numbers to warmly applaud.
