France and the EU in the face of terrorism

Latest News

Terrorism has crossed French and European borders (Belgium, Germany, England, and Sweden, to name just a few).

It operates on the continent with the violence we know it for, always elusive and hidden. Not to mention the almost daily attacks in Egypt, Turkey, Lebanon, and Jordan, countries that are doing their part in hosting refugees. Europeans are working on this in total incoherence, typical of each state’s policy.

Europe, or at least the European Union to be more precise, lacks a concrete general mobilization or a coherent response to tackle these conflicts and these attacks.

In Europe, the fight against terrorism remains primarily a national responsibility… but the legal framework allows member states to coordinate their actions and the authorities responsible for anti-terrorism policy.

Will the reality of the situation oblige the 28 to mobilize together in the face of the threat, to equip themselves with tools to enhance their capacity for action and tools for combating terrorism?
