Situated 300 meters from Place Massรฉna, the departmental Micro-Folie of Nice hosts the exhibition “Light Hunter” by Jadikan. An exhibition highlighting works where one literally paints with light.

Attention to all painting enthusiasts, a technique that deviates from the norm is offered at the Micro-Folie. The artist, to materialize the movement of light, plays with the photographic medium. By keeping the sensor of his camera open in dark places, empty and still spaces, he plays with light to bring them to life. Calligraphy, luminous sculptures, or subtle stagings, the choreographies of Jadikan illuminate landscapes and places to fix his ephemeral graffiti.

His creative playgrounds are diverse: he enters them at night, accompanied only by his photographic equipment. Equipped with the luminous tools he has crafted, the artist undertakes, in the dark and in front of the camera lens, a true artistic and physical performance. His images, never retouched, are the reflection of a single shot whose duration can extend over several minutes. You can enjoy augmented reality artworks. Simply pass the provided tablet at the entrance to see his works come to life. The recent interest of the artist in virtual reality and 360ยฐ artworks can be experienced through virtual reality headsets. Thus, a journey into an unprecedented creative universe is offered until March 30, 2024.

Jadikan, a brief introduction

Born in 1981, the artist grew passionate about photography early on and later revealed himself through his luminous creations, which became his preferred discipline: “light painting”. He moved to Asia in 2005 and accidentally created his first light trails, which sparked a quest for luminous tools and their photographic results. This is how he made this technique his trademark and showcased his talent.
