This Saturday, the Alpes-Maritimes Departmental Olympic and Sports Committee, through its Sport and Disability Division led by Patricia Scarpinato, and in close collaboration with the Handisport and Adapted Sport Committees, organized the 3rd edition of the Open Pétanque, Handi & Able-Bodied Day.
People with disabilities from various specialized centers participated in a day of solidarity and fraternity through sports. The teams were composed of triplets (a person with a physical disability, a person with an intellectual disability, and an able-bodied person), demonstrating that meeting others through the pretext of sports can change society’s perception of disabilities.
Sports are the quintessential example of diversity, a factor of success and well-being in personal and psychological development. The CDOS 06 aims to be a pioneer in the field of “shared sports” as a tremendous engine for integration where equal opportunities are fully embraced.
