As part of the redevelopment work on the Promenade des Anglais, the Port of Carras will soon become the Parc de Carras, following a renovation process and additional constructions.
While the prolonged works on the Promenade des Anglais can sometimes be annoying (traffic jams, nuisances, etc.), they have a very specific purpose for the city of Nice. In addition to streamlining car, bicycle, and pedestrian traffic, this initiative is primarily part of a process that should allow the famous avenue to be officially recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage site.
The Port of Carras, linked to the Promenade, will also be renovated, starting next September, after two distinct phases of work.
Christian Estrosi, Mayor of Nice and President of the Nice Cรดte d’Azur Metropolis, was of course present this Tuesday to present this project, which is dear to him.
On the agenda for this first phase is the expansion of the green space on the mounds to cover an area of approximately 10,000 m2. Children’s playgrounds will be installed, and the parking area will be reorganized. As with the Paillon promenade, the site will be fenced and secured, notably to prevent random nighttime intrusions. Surveillance cameras will also be installed.
The development will not only concern the land area, as it will also allow for new nautical activities to be practiced on this site.
This first phase will take place from September to December, for a total cost of around 500,000 euros. The second phase of upgrading the space is still being planned, but according to Christian Estrosi, it will involve “the beautification and greening of this part of the Promenade.”
