Since the heatwave episode of 2003, the government has implemented a National Heatwave Plan, broken down into several increasing levels of severity, defining actions in the areas of prevention and crisis management, which rely on the mobilization of everyone (State, local authorities, associations, healthcare professionals, etc.); each having its rightful place and mission: to protect, alert, coordinate, rescue, care for, and support.
Within the CCAS of Nice, this plan, active from July 1st to August 31st, is managed by the SAGE (Service for Analysis, Crisis Management, and Expertise).
Its objective is to identify and intervene with people at risk (elderly, disabled, isolated individuals), to prevent a potential heatwave crisis, but also to make every citizen an actor and responsible for the most fragile by spreading advice on helping others, by learning basic safety concepts and appropriate actions.
The plan provides four levels according to the severity of the situation.
A municipal brigade will approach people to inform them.
