The Eaglets returned to training this Monday. It was an opportunity for the players to reunite but also to discover the new faces in the squad.
Nineteen players took to the Charles-Ehrmann turf this afternoon. Besides the absence of Balotelli, who, according to Nice-Matin, is expected to extend his contract with the Gym, Mika Séri is with the Ivory Coast national team. He will not return until June 26 with Nice.
Wylan Cyprien is still in rehabilitation while Dante and Dalbert have not yet returned from Brazil. Romain Perraud and Malang Sarr, back from national duty, were also granted a few days of rest.
Finally, Hicham Mahou and Yannis Clémentia, two young players integrated into the professional group, will return to training after completing (and passing) their baccalaureate. Franck Honorat, Dorian Caddy, Said Benrahma, Albert, and Simon Pouplin will resume with the reserve team.
LUCIEN FAVRE “HAPPY TO BE HERE”
The Swiss coach was all smiles at his first press conference. He notably recalled that he never intended to leave the Gym: “Look at my career: even back in April, when I was asked the question, I replied that I always stayed several years at the clubs I coached.”
Favre then briefly introduced his three recruits, namely Pierre Lees-Melou, Jean-Victor Makengo, and Adrien Tamèze: “They are midfielders. Lees-Melou is a very, very good player who can play on the right and in a three-man midfield. He had a very good season in Dijon. Jean-Victor Makengo is a young 18-year-old player, with lots of talent, but still needs development. It may take some time, as with Tamèze, who played at Valenciennes.”
