But what is happening in the Moulins district in Nice?

Latest News

Two individuals arrested, CRS trucks, the Raid on site… We give you more details about the police operation that took place this Thursday, November 30, in the Azurean capital.

It’s been almost a regular occurrence for a few weeks now. Early in the afternoon, a new police operation was carried out in the Moulins district. Multiple CRS trucks were mobilized around the police station square in Nice-West, and the area was completely cordoned off by law enforcement.

The reason? A resident of the area reported the presence of two heavily armed individuals. The individuals in question, huddled inside an apartment, were arrested as the Raid was deployed on site. The police operation concluded without incident around 3:30 PM.

Anti-disorder agents will soon operate in the city

Present on site, Christian Estrosi was quick to commend the operation: “I thank the Raid police officers, mobilized in the Moulins district, who managed to arrest two individuals after a resident reported the presence of two heavily armed people. The operation went off without a hitch.”

In a district beset by delinquency, the mayor of Nice is increasingly confronted with the residents’ distress. He thus announced the presence of anti-disorder agents who will operate in the Moulins starting from the first quarter of 2024. Will this mark the end of drug trafficking, to name just one issue?

The Moulins, under urban renovation since 2010

For more than a decade now, the Moulins district has been undergoing urban renovation. Hang on, the figures are dizzying. Nearly 220 million euros have been invested by the Nice Côte d’Azur Metropolis and its partners to open this district to the rest of the city and integrate it into the Eco‐Valley development dynamic. The “reconquest” of this urban area continues with the New Urban Renewal Program (NPRU). By 2030, 92 million euros will be invested in this project.

Among the priority intervention areas, we can note urban restructuring and intervention on housing in the Digue des Français-Mercantour sectors, the demolition of degraded housing, the rehabilitation and residentialization of housing complexes, the redefinition of public spaces, and intervention on school groups.
