From July 6th to 7th, the city of Nice will be aglow with the colors, rhythms, and traditions of Brazil for the “Fรชte de Yemanja Nice” festival.

This now-essential event is one of the largest Brazilian urban festivals in Europe and the most significant in the south of France. Organized by the Brazilian cultural association of Nice, “Brasuca Danse“, this festival celebrates togetherness and offers a full immersion into Brazilian culture.

This year, the festival offers a variety of activities to allow the people of Nice to embrace Brazilian culture. The program includes introductions to Afro-Brazilian dances and percussion, concerts, and festive street events, featuring over 150 artists and 20 associations.

This Saturday, July 6th

The morning of Saturday, July 6th, will feature several artistic and cultural workshops. From 9 am to 12 pm, the Centre AnimaNice Gorbella will host various dance and visual arts workshops. Participants can discover Samba with Luana Alcantara from 9 am to 10 am, Frevo with Junior Franca from 10 am to 11 am, and Afro Brasileiro with Jirlan Silva from 11 am to 12 pm. Simultaneously, a visual arts workshop with Mica Barbot will take place from 9 am to 12 pm.

In the early afternoon, from 2 pm to 6 pm, Joao do Ilรช Aiye will conduct a percussion workshop. The afternoon and evening will feature a grand demonstration and initiation of Capoeira. Then, from 5 pm to 7 pm, Place Garibaldi will resonate to the rhythm of Capoeira Topazio de Nice, offering the public a unique opportunity to discover and get introduced to this Brazilian martial art.

Sunday, July 7th

On Sunday, July 7th, the festivities will kick off in the late afternoon with a gathering and festivities at Place Saint Franรงois from 5 pm to 5:15 pm. At 5:30 pm, the Vivre Ensemble Yemanja procession will begin, with a parade of artistic and cultural associations through the city. At 6:30 pm, the procession will arrive at the Plage Publique du Castel for a flower offering to Yemanja, the protector of the oceans.

Lastly, the evening will continue with a musical concert starting at 8 pm on the Plage Les Canailles Nice. The public will be able to enjoy performances by Pierre Onassis, a Brazilian celebrity, the Brazilian music group from Nice, Tamo Junto, and Gab Miranda, son of the famous singer Gretchen.
