The year started well for Nice rugby, dominating the championship decisively. With the best offense and an unbeaten streak at home, the path to the semi-finals was wide open. First in the standings before the semi-finals, Alexandre Compan’s team finished the regular season at the top of the standings ahead of Narbonne. They also ended the season unbeaten at home. The record stands at 18 wins, one draw, and seven narrow losses. Among the 18 victories, there are 11 offensive bonuses and an average score exceeding 30 points at home. This nearly perfect performance allowed the group to approach the semi-finals with confidence.
Champion of Nationale
In the semi-final, the Niçois offered their fans the last home victory of the season once again with an offensive bonus and a score of 35-13 against Suresnes. Now, heading to the final in Chambéry on May 18, 2024, against the toughest opponent, Narbonne.
At the end of a tight match, Stade Niçois made the decisive play in the last 10 minutes, earning the first Nationale title in its history and, at the same time, promotion to Pro D2.
Difficult Start in Pro D2
Making their debut in the big leagues, Nice suffered their first home defeat in two years. It took until the second day for the newly promoted team to secure their first-ever Pro D2 victory. The first home win came on October 12 against Stade Montois. However, the fairy tale quickly took a different turn. At the end of the year, Stade Niçois is last in Pro D2 with a losing streak of 8 consecutive defeats. They will have to fight until the end to secure their place. But the Niçois have shown that they are capable of anything. They aim to offer their supporters a 2025 as historic as the year ending.
