Formula E: Théo Pourchaire joins DS Penske as a test driver

Latest News

Théo Pourchaire has just been announced as the new test driver for DS Performance. The driver from Grasse thus joins the Stellantis Motorsport Young Drivers program, an initiative of the automotive group to which the DS Penske team belongs. This integration confirms his interest in the electric discipline, which he has been exploring for several months.

“Théo Pourchaire joins our family through the Stellantis Motorsport Young Drivers program! He will participate in several test days to master our GEN 2 and GEN 3 Evo.” With this message, the DS Penske team officially announced the arrival of the French driver within its structure. Théo Pourchaire will join a group already composed of Jean-Éric Vergne and Maximilian Günther. The two regular drivers have just completed an encouraging race in the last round in Monaco.

At 21, Pourchaire thus continues his progression in the world of electric single-seaters. Last February, he had already participated in the Formula E rookie tests with Maserati MSG Racing in Jeddah. The Monegasque team entrusted him with the wheel for 40 minutes. This was his first official experience, following several tests conducted for other teams in the discipline.

A possible gateway to IndyCar

Currently competing in Endurance in the ELMS championship with Algarve Racing Team, Théo Pourchaire could also benefit from pathways to IndyCar. DS Penske is indeed linked to Team Penske, a leading American reference in this category. The name of the driver from Maralpin regularly circulates in the American paddock, where he has already raced and achieved good results. He was notably once targeted by McLaren, which ultimately preferred another young driver in the person of Nolan Siegel.

Formula 2 Champion in 2023, Pourchaire is also a reserve driver for Peugeot in WEC. Formula 1 seems out of reach for now, but the driver from the French Riviera continues to chart his course between endurance, electric single-seaters, and opportunities in America. His appointment at DS Penske confirms this strategic positioning.
