In response to the high temperatures, Nice offers spray zones and freely accessible fountains. Objective: to limit health risks and provide places of respite for the population.
With rising temperatures, the issue of cooling in the city becomes central. In Nice, several measures are already in place to allow residents and visitors to cope with heatwave episodes.
Green spaces are part of the solutions developed for several years. The network of 189 parks and gardens spread over the communal territory forms a mesh that limits heat exposure. Twenty-eight of them have spray zones open during the summer. Water is projected in fine droplets there, allowing for immediate cooling.
Among these places, the water mirror of the Promenade du Paillon remains one of the most frequented. Its wide diffusion area, combined with its central location, attracts numerous families as soon as temperatures rise. Covering an area of 2,800 mยฒ, it functions as a meeting point where young and old find some respite.
Beyond these recreational areas, drinking water points are accessible for free. The city has 155 fountains spread across its entire territory. They provide means to quench thirst or wet oneself. Supplied by the Eau dโAzur network, these fountains supply water drawn from the Nice hinterland.
At the metropolitan level, four other Eau dโAzur water fountains are present in Nice, Saint-Laurent-du-Var, and Cagnes-sur-Mer. They complement the already available offer.
Finally, decorative fountains, often located in tourist spots, continue to operate but in a closed circuit. This measure helps ensure economical use of resources in a context of water tension.
