The 2026 Tour de France Women will require major traffic management in Nice. From Saturday, August 8 to Monday, August 10, many roads will be closed, tram and bus lines will be adapted, while several car parks, cycle paths and gardens will also be affected.
The passage of the 2026 Tour de France Women through Nice will change travel patterns throughout the entire weekend. The final two stages of the cycling event require significant security measures. Restrictions will affect motorists, public transport users, cyclists and pedestrians alike.
The first measures will take effect as early as Friday evening, August 7 with parking bans. The final restrictions will end during the night of Sunday, August 9 to Monday, August 10. Here’s what you need to know.
Trams, buses and traffic: a weekend under heavy constraints
The tram network will be adapted according to the race schedule. On Saturday, August 8, lines 2 and 3 will operate in a shuttle service between Magnan and Ferber stations from 4 p.m. to 6:30 p.m.
On Sunday, August 9, line 1 will also be modified. From 6 a.m. to 2 p.m. and then from 7:30 p.m. to 10 p.m., trains will operate in a shuttle service between Masséna and Garibaldi. Between 2 p.m. and 7:30 p.m., the temporary terminus will be moved to Vauban.
Bus lines will also be adapted. On Saturday, August 8, lines 8+, 12+, 17, 50, 51, 59, 61, 69, 90, summer Vésubie, 91, 92, 98 and on-demand lines C4, C5, C6 and C10 will be affected.
On Sunday, August 9, modifications will affect lines 7, 8+, 12+, 15, 18, 30, 33, 38, 57, 80, 82, 83, 84 and 98.
For motorists, restrictions will be numerous. Traffic will be gradually prohibited as security measures are put in place. Roads perpendicular to closed routes will no longer allow access to the race course. Residents will, however, retain two-way access in several sectors.
The Promenade des Anglais will account for most of the closures. Several sections will be closed to traffic between Saturday, August 8 and Monday, August 10. The quays of the United States, Rauba Capeu, the Masséna sector, Nice port, California, Boulevard du Mercantour, the western hills and numerous city centre routes will also be affected according to varying schedules.
Some streets will be made one-way or two-way to maintain access for residents and authorized car parks.
Parking, car parks and pedestrian movement
Parking will be prohibited on many roads from Friday evening, August 7, notably on the Promenade des Anglais, the United States Quay, Avenue de Verdun and several routes in the city centre, port and western Nice.
Alternative parking spaces will be offered to residents of the western sector at car park P1 bis, Avenue Pierre-de-Coubertin, from Friday, August 7 at 2 p.m. until Saturday, August 8 at midnight.
Several car parks will operate with modified access or will be temporarily closed. Car parks at Masséna, Sulzer, Plaza, Saleya, Lympia, Promenade des Arts, Ruhl, Villa Masséna, Palais de la Méditerranée and Corvésy will be affected according to different time slots. Some will only be accessible by a specific route, while others will close completely during the race.
Taxi stands at Verdun, Palais de la Méditerranée, Negresco, Radisson and Place de l’Île-de-Beauté will be relocated or temporarily closed.
Cycle paths on the Promenade des Anglais, Avenue de Verdun, the seafront, Corniche André-de-Joly, Avenue Félix-Faure and several other areas will also be closed according to competition schedules.
Pedestrian movement will also be restricted. Several pedestrian crossings on the Promenade des Anglais, United States Quay, Masséna Square, the port and city centre will be closed during the stages. Crossings of the routes used by the race will be temporarily prohibited and secured by law enforcement.
Finally, several public spaces will close. Albert-Ier Garden will be inaccessible from August 6 to 10. The music kiosk, the Three Graces fountain, the Garden of Armenia and the water mirror will also be closed during part of the weekend.
Nice residents and visitors are encouraged to plan their journeys in advance and to use public transport when traffic conditions permit.
