The evening also allowed the acknowledgment of the longtime commitment of several individuals dedicated to the service of sports.
An Evening Dedicated to Recognition
A highlight of the ceremony was the presentation of the “Youth, Sports, and Associative Commitment” medals. These honors celebrated individuals committed to sports for several years.
The bronze medal, corresponding to six years of service, was awarded to Laurence Mosteiro. Vice-president of CDOS 06 in charge of education and citizenship and a representative of UNSS, Laurence Mosteiro received this distinction from Manuel Dureuil.
The silver medal, for ten years of service, was presented to Alain Broche. President of the Côte d’Azur football district and Vice-president of the Mediterranean football league, Alain Broche was decorated by Philippe Manassero.
The gold medal, representing fifteen years of service, honored Jean-Luc Petit. President of the departmental cycling committee and president of the Olympique Cyclo Club Antibes Juan-les-Pins, Jean-Luc Petit received this medal from Charles Ange Ginésy.
These three individuals, through their careers and positive influence in sports, embody CDOS’s mission. This mission seeks to promote sports, unite participants, and contribute to the life and cohesion of the territory.
In his speech, the president of Alpes-Maritimes emphasized the place of sports in society: “sports represent much more than an activity or discipline: it is a crucial vector of social connection, collective dynamism, and shared pride.” Charles Ange Ginésy stressed the structuring role of the sports movement in departmental life: “this pivotal event dedicated to the promotion of Maralpin sports and those who uphold its values daily, allows us to recall the structuring role of the sports movement in our department’s life […] I would like to finally thank all the teams, leaders, volunteers, and sports movement actors for their constant commitment and essential contribution to the development of our territory. Long live sports in Alpes-Maritimes.”
Manuel Dureuil, president of CDOS 06, then presented the orientations and priorities of the departmental structure: “our role is to unite, support, and represent the entire Olympic and sports movement of Alpes-Maritimes, in all its diversity, from high-level sports to sports for all, from volunteer associations to public sports policies.”
The economic and budgetary context was discussed, with the announcement of changes in operational modes. The development of e-learning training, the fall deployment of the Sports Caravan throughout the entire Maralpin territory, and the modernization of management tools were mentioned.
The New Year ceremony concluded with a message addressed to the entire Olympic and sports movement of the department, with an outlook on the year 2026 and the continuation of CDOS 06’s missions around “Sport DIFFERENTLY.”
