Rosé World Cup 2026: Forty Countries Gathered in Cannes for Tasting

Latest News

The tastings for the Mondial du Rosé continue in Cannes until March 29. The 2026 session brings together more than 120 tasters at the Pullman Cannes Mandelieu-la-Napoule to examine nearly 3,000 samples from 40 countries. The event is part of the Vinalies Internationales.

The wine sector is going through a phase of profound transition. Volumes are declining in several markets, costs are rising, stocks are accumulating, exports are slowing, and climate irregularities are changing the usual harvest benchmarks. Everywhere, producers are seeking solutions to maintain their businesses, preserve their markets, and continue to defend the value of their work. In this changing context, the quest for professional recognition becomes a strategic lever. The Vinalies Competitions, organized for more than forty years by the Œnologists of France, fully align with this logic by providing a structured and sustainable evaluation framework.

In this context, the Mondial du Rosé 2026 has been taking place since March 25 in a studious atmosphere. The session holds a special place in the landscape of professional competitions. This contest has established itself as “the flagship of competitions organized by the Œnologists of France.” This position is based on a stable tasting method and an organization that prioritizes technical analysis.

The current edition extends a constant ambition: to offer producers structured feedback and visibility in a changing market. The Mondial du Rosé “continues its ambition to make the best rosé wines accessible to all by rewarding the talents of winemakers worldwide.” This ambition guides the ongoing session, as tastings continue until March 29.

Since 2024, the competition has been part of the Vinalies Internationales. This integration has not changed its identity but has broadened its scope. The session remains “one of the most anticipated sessions during the ‘world championship of championships’ for wine professionals.” This status is due to the diversity of rosé wines present in international markets and the growing interest in collective evaluation.

Five days of tasting for a global snapshot of rosé

The Pullman Cannes Mandelieu-la-Napoule hosts this edition in an environment suited to handling a large volume of samples. More than 120 tasters and oenologists are enlisted to examine some 3,000 samples from 40 countries worldwide. This diversity provides a broad perspective on styles, approaches, and trends.

The tastings span five days, allowing for the awarding of Grand Gold, Gold, and Silver medals according to a precise scale. The document specifies the thresholds: Grand Gold for a score of 93 to 100/100, Gold for 89 to 92/100, Silver for 85 to 88/100. The highest distinctions grant access to a Palm, awarded to the best wines in eleven categories, which include “Rosé Wine,” “White Wine,” “Red Wine,” “Spirits,” “Green Value,” “Sparkling Rosé Wine,” and “Ciders & Fruit Wines.”

The medal ceremony will take place on March 31. Each year the competition attracts estates of various sizes from very different regions. The participation of forty countries confirms the interest in a structured and recognized evaluation.
