This Saturday, April 4th, Nice launched “April in the Garden,” the spring event on the Promenade du Paillon. A morning blending public health, discovery, and urban nature, during which the mayor toured the installations while interacting with the teams on site.
On the occasion of the launch of “April in the Garden”, the spring event on the Promenade du Paillon, Eric Ciotti, mayor of Nice, went early in the morning to the banks of the Promenade du Paillon, accompanied by his delegation. A morning combining public health, discovery, and urban nature, under the watchful eyes of a few residents present at the start of the weekend.
Before heading to the garden, Eric Ciotti and his delegation stopped at Masséna Square to participate in the LIDER Diabetes initiative, deployed yesterday morning alongside volunteers and healthcare workers dedicated to raising awareness for free among the residents of Nice. The elected official himself underwent the screening, setting an example. Sixty second-year nursing students from the Croix-Rouge University Hospital were present to assist and inform the public. “Thank you to them,” declared the mayor of Nice, visibly moved by the mobilization of these young professionals.

“April in the Garden”: Nature at the Heart of Nice
The delegation then moved to the meadows of the Espace Jacques Médecin, right in the heart of the Promenade du Paillon, to discover the 2026 edition of “April in the Garden”. This year, the immersive installation “Inverted Reality” invites visitors to explore three spaces: a room with distorted mirrors, a garden with reversed landmarks that gives the impression of walking in the air, and a labyrinth with over 600 plants in purple hues. An original and poetic experience, designed by the agents of the Directorate of Green Spaces.
Questioned on-site, the mayor reiterated his ambitions for the city: “we want a city that protects, a city that respects our natural heritage, a city that meets the challenges of climate change,” he stated. Eric Ciotti acknowledged that urban planning had taken a significant role in recent years and emphasized the need to regain balance. “We need to find this balance and anticipate this climate change,” he said.
The elected official also praised the work of the agents of the Directorate of Green Spaces, “silent engine” of this policy. He cited his deputies Jean-Marc Governatori and Catherine Moreau as essential partners in this environmental ambition. “Vegetation not only enhances a space. It provides markers, creates a comforting atmosphere, cools our cities during summer, and provides shelter to urban wildlife,” he concluded.
The visit concluded with photos and interactions with residents. “April in the Garden” continues throughout the month of April, on the Promenade du Paillon, next to the water mirror, on avenue Félix-Faure. The event is accessible for free, every day from 7 a.m., until May 3, 2026.
