Compared to the first round, the balance of power has clearly shifted. Eric Ciotti came in first a week earlier with 43.43% of votes cast. The new mayor of Nice strengthened his lead in the second round notably thanks to the voting directive issued by Reconquête candidate Cédric Vella who had received 1.86% in the first round. Christian Estrosi (+9,539) and Juliette Chesnel-Le Roux (+3,570) also progressed in number of votes but never managed to unite around themselves.
Participation up but still below the national average
The Nice electorate counted 229,109 registered voters for this second round. The number of voters reached 128,118 voters. The participation rate stands at 55.92% in the municipality.
The abstention level is down compared to the first round and stands at 44.08%. Participation therefore slightly increased in Nice between the two rounds. The first round showed a participation rate of 53.58%. The second round recorded an increase of more than two points (55.92%).
Despite this increase, participation remains slightly below the national average. At the national level, the second round of the 2026 municipal elections reaches a participation rate of 57%. The gap remains limited but confirms slightly lower mobilization in the municipality.
The results published Sunday evening constitute the official results of the election. The final count determines the composition of the municipal council for the next seven years. The new majority will have 52 seats on the municipal council against 17 for the opposition.
Eric Ciotti’s investiture as mayor of Nice is to take place this Friday, March 27, 2026.
