The Nice Jazz Fest’ took its final bow on Saturday, July 25th. The tenth edition confirmed that this event has become a major cultural gathering. The international image of the Côte d’Azur city was enhanced by this year’s ambitious programming.
The final evening revealed that the Nice festival is no longer solely an event for jazz enthusiasts. The finale was characterized by intense performances and enthusiastic spectators. Some were facing the stage, while others tried to capture moments of the show from outside. The stars of the lineup contributed to the festival’s radiance.
An ending that lived up to expectations
For this edition, the presence of renowned international artists was a gathering force. Sting’s performance on the first evening launched the festival’s momentum. The leader of The Police often comes to mind for festival-goers. Nevertheless, the headliners of the closing night offered a memorable moment.
On the Théâtre de Verdure stage, Obongjayar delivered a captivating performance filled with emotion and compelling stage presence. This singular artist is capable of moving from a soft, lyrical voice to punchy accents. His interactions with spectators were appreciated. “I loved that he asked us to participate in the choruses, we shouted, we sang and we danced,” exclaimed Liana, a 28-year-old Nice resident. Alongside him, Pauline added that “it’s literally what (she expects) from a festival.”
Lola Young won over spectators at Place Masséna with her authenticity and her characterful voice. “She has an incredible voice and a wonderful stage presence,” said Élodie, who attended the final evening. The highlight was when the British artist invited a young girl on stage to play drums on her song Messy. “It shows how close she is to her audience, she’s an artist who has a great rapport with her fans,” Élodie added.
It is clear that this edition made a large majority of festival-goers want to return next year. The final act of Nice Jazz Fest’ seemed to celebrate the evening’s performances but also the overall experience of this 2026 edition.
Enthusiasm beyond the festival grounds
During these three nights, Nice Jazz Fest’ became the soundtrack of the Côte d’Azur city. Beyond the barriers, the music escaped. At Place Masséna, a crowd was carried away by Lola Young’s performance. “I couldn’t get a ticket this year, so I came here to listen,” confides Noémie, an 18-year-old student.
This moment recalls music’s dimension as a driver of sharing and meeting. “I like the fact that we’re so many attending the concert like this. Plus we have more room to dance,” said Marcus with a smile.
