OGC Nice: the market update of the week

Sunday calls for it, let’s take stock of the latest OGC Nice transfer news. The week has been eventful for the Gym, still obliged to sell several of its players. On the arrivals side, the Eagles could soon officially announce the arrival of two major reinforcements.

OGC Nice is picking up pace! This time, the Eagles have decided to accelerate on the arrivals side in this summer transfer window. After a timid July – where the Gym was only able to officially confirm the arrival of Laurent Abergel – the Côte d’Azur club has made good progress on two hot issues: Franck Magri and Gauthier Hein. The Cameroonian international has the advantage of being a free agent since leaving Toulouse last June. If reports of a potential medical visit this weekend have leaked, there would have been a huge turn of events in recent hours: the former Toulouse striker was approaching an agreement with Qatari club Al-Gharafa. A lead to forget for Nice?

The Gauthier Hein file is no longer a surprise. OGC Nice’s management has been monitoring this lead for several weeks. Recently, the Gym seemed to have lost ground regarding the playmaker, who was moving closer to a departure to Germany. The Eagles have not said their last word and have resumed discussions with his club, FC Metz. A positive outcome is expected early next week. Ouest-France even confirms an imminent arrival of the player on the Côte d’Azur.

OGC Nice continues to sell

The main mission of OGC Nice’s transfer window remains the same: the Côte d’Azur club must sell to replenish its coffers. Roger Ricort, the red and black sporting director, had set himself the objective of selling for 70 million euros. While several players – Vanhoutte, Boudache, or Boga among others – have already departed during July, the vast majority of the work still needs to be done.

This week again, the Gym announced the departures of Rares Ilie and Mattia Viti. The two players were not part of Olivier Pantaloni’s plans, and will continue their careers in Italy, with the Romanian midfielder signing with Mantua and the central defender joining Sampdoria Genoa. OGC Nice recovers some much-needed millions during this period of austerity from these two operations.

Finally, the Eagles would also be about to record the departure of Tom Louchet. Unless there is a turn of events, the midfielder should sign with PAOK Thessaloniki for a fee of around 4 million euros. A few details would remain to be settled between the Greek club and OGC Nice to complete this transfer. Louchet was one of many players whose contracts with the Gym expire in 2027. Under these circumstances, a departure became the best option for all parties involved.
