The sub-prefecture of Grasse will soon have a new face. By decree of the President of the Republic dated July 22, 2026, issued on the proposal of the Prime Minister and the Minister of the Interior, Jean-Claude Geney has been appointed delegated prefect in charge of a temporary territorial mission.
His assumption of duties is set for August 24, 2026. This appointment ends more than four years spent at the head of the sub-prefecture of Grasse. The name of the future sub-prefect has not yet been revealed. An appointment should be made in the coming weeks to ensure the continuity of State missions in the district.
This change comes just days after another leadership change at the top of the State in the Alpes-Maritimes. Jean-Marie Girier officially took office as prefect of the Alpes-Maritimes on Monday, July 27, succeeding Laurent Hottiaux, who was appointed prefect of the Pays de la Loire region. Both moves are part of the renewal of several positions in the territorial administration.

In his new duties, Jean-Claude Geney will join the system of delegated prefects in charge of a territorial mission. Placed under the authority of a prefect, these State representatives work in territories requiring particular support, particularly in priority neighborhoods under urban policy.

His career also includes responsibilities in the field of civil protection, with a position as deputy chief of staff, as well as several roles held in the prefecture since the beginning of his administrative career, which began in the Vosges in 1984.
