After several days of intense heat, temperatures will gradually decline on the Côte d’Azur. A more marked drop is expected from Thursday onwards.

Heat will continue to settle over the Côte d’Azur at the beginning of the week. While the Alpes-Maritimes department will no longer be on orange heat alert, Météo-France nevertheless predicts a gradual change in temperatures in the coming days. The thermometer should begin to fall from Wednesday onwards, before a more noticeable drop on Thursday.

This change comes as the heat wave gradually recedes in parts of the country. However, the Southeast remains among the areas where intense heat persists.

Still over 30 °C until Wednesday

This Sunday, August 16, temperatures were around 33 °C at the warmest part of the day on the Côte d’Azur. The thermometer also remained high in the evening, with 28 °C forecast.

The heat will continue Monday, August 17. Temperatures should range between 25 °C in the morning and 31 °C in the afternoon. On Tuesday, August 18, values will remain similar with 25 °C at the coolest and 31 °C at the warmest part of the day.

Wednesday, August 19, a first drop should be felt. Highs will reach around 30 °C, while lows could drop to 24 °C.

The trend corresponds to the forecast by Météo-France, which predicts a gradual drop in temperatures and a return of stormy conditions in parts of the country.

A sharper drop from Thursday

The weather change should become more noticeable Thursday, August 20. Maximum temperatures would no longer exceed 26 °C. Minimums could reach 23 °C.

The risk of thunderstorms will also be more present. A change to monitor after several days marked by intense heat and which should be beneficial for biodiversity.

Friday, August 21, temperatures should remain between 23 °C and 28 °C. Stormy periods are still possible. Saturday, August 22, the mercury could continue to fall with 22 °C in the morning and 28 °C in the afternoon.

The week therefore looks to be a gradual transition towards lower temperatures. For residents of the Côte d’Azur, Monday and Tuesday will remain warm. The change should mainly confirm itself from Thursday onwards.

In Nice, Météo-France also forecasts high temperatures and warm nights in the coming days before a real drop in temperatures this weekend.
