The resurfacing of boulevard de Cessole began this Monday, October 12, 2026, between avenue Cyrnos and chemin de la Maion Grossa. The project, estimated at 650,000 euros, is expected to last five weeks and will involve several traffic modifications, including one-way restrictions and diversions.

Motorists using the boulevard de Cessole will need to adapt their travel plans until mid-November. The city of Nice has launched a road resurfacing operation on the section between avenue Cyrnos and chemin de la Maion Grossa. Work is scheduled to end on Tuesday, November 17, subject to weather conditions and any unforeseen site issues.

At a cost of 650,000 euros including VAT, this project is intended to improve the quality of the road surface, driving comfort and reduce noise pollution for residents.

Four work phases and diversions until November

The project is organized into four phases, with different consequences for traffic. Boulevard de Cessole will remain accessible in the uphill direction during most of the work. Access will also be possible from avenue de Castellane.

Since yesterday, Monday the 12th through Friday, October 16, crews are working on the gutters on the west side, corresponding to odd-numbered addresses. Work is carried out during the day, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. A reduction in lanes is planned as the work progresses, but two-way traffic is maintained.

Conditions will change from Monday, October 19. Until Friday, October 30, the resurfacing will affect the east half of the roadway, on the even-numbered side. The boulevard will then be placed in one-way uphill traffic, 24 hours a day, including outside working hours.

A second work period will follow from Monday, November 2 to Friday, November 13. This time, the renovation will focus on the west half of the roadway, on the odd-numbered side. One-way traffic will remain in effect throughout this phase.

During these two periods, motorists will have to use a detour via avenue Cyrille Besset and boulevard Auguste Raynaud. Access to boulevard de Cessole from avenues Clément Ader and Valdiletta will also be prohibited.

To preserve access to residents’ garages, avenues Clément Ader, René Boylesve and Valdiletta, as well as chemin de la Maion Grossa, will temporarily be made two-way.

Nighttime closures on November 16 and 17

The final phase of the project will involve laying the final wearing course. This work will require a complete closure to traffic of the section in question on Monday, November 16 and Tuesday, November 17, from 9 p.m. to 6 a.m. During these two nights, motorists will have to use the detour via avenue Cyrille Besset and boulevard Auguste Raynaud.

Public transport will also be affected by traffic modifications. Bus lines 8+ and 57 will maintain their usual route in the uphill direction. However, toward the Palais des Expositions and Riquier, their routes will be modified from October 19 to 30, then from November 2 to 13.

The Nice municipality indicates that pedestrian pathways will be maintained in full safety throughout the work period. Parking will be prohibited over the entire work site area.
