The behind-the-scenes of Nice’s municipal police was unveiled to the general public over the weekend of October 10 and 11, 2026. Proposed by the city, discovery booths and activities were set up in the heart of the Paillon Promenade. This event aims to strengthen the attractiveness of Nice’s police institution.
The Paillon Promenade hosted an exceptional meeting during this October weekend. Visitors had the opportunity to discover a discovery and exchange village centered around Nice’s municipal police. Each person was able to meet with the different units in order to understand their missions and discover the many professions working for security.
In a friendly atmosphere, all generations were invited to this meeting. The youngest were able to participate in fun activities around road safety, with a signage course on bicycles. The bravest attended operational demonstrations, notably with canine and mounted brigades. The motorized vehicles of the municipal police were displayed and agents remained available to answer questions. Finally, stands on recruitment and weapons handling training were set up on the lawn.
In light of the controversies linked to law enforcement during high school mobilizations, this event was an opportunity to better make known the missions of municipal police officers and to strengthen the attractiveness of these professions.
A reaffirmation of the security function of the Municipal Police
The operational demonstrations succeeded in arousing the curiosity of many people. The objective was to reveal professional intervention techniques, notably with the canine, mounted, and mountain bike brigades.

Making these scenarios accessible is a way of reminding that security force agents must systematically act in strict compliance with the legal framework, with self-defense and according to the principles of necessity and proportionality. Furthermore, the framework for the use of force and weapons is more restricted for municipal police officers.
During these discovery days, weapons handling instructors notably performed a scenario in which a municipal police crew is required for a threatening individual on public roads. For this scene, the agents used the electrical impulse gun to immobilize him. The shooter must then proceed to remove the probes and ensure the health status of the individual. Only the judicial police officer is competent to transport the person.
One of the weapons handling agents present told us that the electrical impulse gun is in his opinion “the weapon of the future”, since it does not cause death. This intermediate force weapon allows for neutralizing a threat while preserving the physical integrity of everyone.

These demonstrations make it possible to remind visitors that municipal police officers, and more broadly all security forces, are obligated to comply with a predefined legal framework. This is intended to make it possible to preserve the safety of the person arrested, the officers, and third parties present.
Encouraging recruitment
This discovery village made it possible to create a real place of dialogue between the municipal police forces and visitors.
With this objective of attractiveness in mind, a space was dedicated to careers so that interested persons could find out about the competition, but also about recruitment conditions for public road surveillance agents (ASVP) and municipal police officers. The agents present were able to detail career paths and numerous development prospects. To go further, digital tablets and dedicated QR codes were made available to those wishing to apply directly.
The workforce of Nice’s municipal police has reached 500 officers and will soon be increased to 700. “We are continuing our ambition to strengthen the workforce of Nice’s Municipal Police“, assured the city’s mayor, Éric Ciotti, on his X account. There is a real desire to support future ASVPs and municipal police officers in their professional training. Security thus embodied, so to speak, the flagship issue of the municipal majority.
