On September 6, 2021, French cinema lost one of its greatest representatives, Jean-Paul Belmondo. Particularly attached to the Côte d’Azur, the actor had already been celebrated on the Cours Saleya in Nice; this time, it is in Cannes that he is being honored.
This Tuesday, the city of Cannes unveiled a new mural that will delight all fans of Bebert. Overlooking the expressway from Jean Jaurès Street, this artwork features the actor who passed away a little over a year ago.
David Lisnard, the Mayor of Cannes, had a few words for this cinema legend:
“Jean-Paul Belmondo embodied the best of a certain French spirit, with an insolence that was never arrogant, a flair, and an aesthetic. He was an icon, a great artist, very popular and demanding, he had a natural charisma.”
