A new green space at Castle Hill

Latest News

Work on enhancing the Castle Hill continues, with the installation of a recreational lawn covering over 6,400 square meters.

The Castle Hill continues its development. Classified as a natural site since 1935, this location overlooks the Promenade des Anglais, offering a stunning view of the seafront. To further enhance it, the city of Nice launched a landscaping project several years ago. The aim is to provide the residents of Nice with a higher quality public space, while maintaining a vegetation management plan for a period of fifteen years. The mayor of the city, Christian Estrosi, visited the site to observe its progress.

The League for the Protection of Birds (LPO) has notably installed new birdhouses for the many birds present in the area. This action was also made possible thanks to the generosity of Ulrich Rampp, the president of the Ulrich Rampp Foundation, a generous donor committed to nature conservation with the LPO. An initiative praised by Christian Estrosi: “It is important to know that we have donors who are involved in protecting the Nice environment and its future.”

A longstanding project for the site’s preservation

Many works have already been completed in recent years to promote this historical heritage site of the city. But the project continues, and Christian Estrosi was able to see it for himself. The city’s mayor participated in the inauguration of a new recreational lawn installed in place of the sports field. This lawn, covering over 6,400 square meters, offers an exceptional view of the Bay of Angels and the southern balcony.

“Before the work, people said I was going to concrete over the place,” notes the mayor of Nice. “Today, it is clear that this is not concrete, but indeed greening. The most beautiful illustration is the panorama we now have.” Before leaving, Christian Estrosi also acknowledged the municipal employees taking care of the green spaces, who are present every day to maintain the site.
