A new store has opened its doors on rue Arson, behind the port of Nice, in the Riquier district. The boutique « Ô Madeleine » offers an original concept around a well-known cake, entirely reinvented.
Open for about a month, the boutique draws attention with a universe centered solely on the madeleine. Far from the classic versions sold in supermarkets, the recipes offered are more varied, with sweet flavors for snack time, but also savory versions for lunch.
The manager chose this product for its simplicity and its ability to be transformed. « The madeleine is a travel cake, you can easily customize it », she explains. The goal is to offer a different version of this traditional product.
Customers won over
Among the creations offered, some flavors directly recall the Nice region. The lemon madeleine is among the flagship products and evokes the scents of the Côte d’Azur. A way also to anchor the boutique in its territory.
The first customers say they are generally surprised by the concept. Some notably discover the savory versions. « It’s original, especially the savory madeleines, you don’t see them often in Nice », confides a customer. Others believe that the concept can easily find its place in the city.
The boutique is primarily aimed at a local clientele. It wishes to offer an alternative to classic tea rooms. Madeleines are sold between 3€ and 4€ each. Special offers are also available, particularly for Mother’s Day.
