New screening tests can be conducted at mobile COVID PCR stations. They can be done without an appointment and without a prescription, all for free from Monday to Friday from 8:30 AM to 8:30 PM.
“For me, it has always been masks for everyone and protective measures for everyone.” The mayor of Nice laments the residents’ carelessness and mentioned the importance of protective measures and wearing masks.
A comprehensive plan
To carry out these tests, the city has gone to great lengths and Christian Estrosi detailed the resources put in place. “I have therefore wanted to provide public space teams with doctors from laboratories, nurses, samplers, and administrative city staff to complete the paperwork, to offer everyone the opportunity to get tested in public spaces and make an appointment with a doctor.”
This campaign is made possible through the support of partner laboratories Eurofins Labazur, Cerballiance, and LBM Bioesterel.
Necessary prevention
The mayor of Nice wanted to remind the people of Nice that complacency is not an option. Indeed, the virus reproduction rate has climbed back to 1.55, placing the region in the red zone. “The epidemic is at its lowest, but it is present. This is one of the places in France, thanks to the management of lockdown and reopening, where we have managed to prevent it from circulating again, but there are tourists arriving at the airport. We are now organizing tests upon arrivals where we must remain vigilant to prevent a rise in virus circulation; there have been a few positive tests in recent days. I want us to be able to contain them immediately.” At the same time, the mayor specified that the maximum attendance for an event will be lowered to 2,500 people.
A plan difficult to quantify
For now, it is difficult to estimate the expenses generated by this plan.
“The cost of this operation will only be assessed at the end of the summer. We are currently working with a budget of 300,000 euros assessed for the summer period. If we need to go further, we will, because for me, protecting and anticipating the care of the people of Nice is a priority. We will make budgetary adjustments within the overall budget if necessary.”
