“The future is something that can be overcome. We do not suffer the future, we create it.” These words from Georges Bernanos aptly summarize the philosophy of the Studyrama fair. It is an important event that should definitely not be missed. Between programs, projects, and hires, it’s important to know where you’re setting foot before committing. After all, studies and work are a bit like a woman before marriage; you need to get to know her. Well, this fair is a sort of speed-dating for the future.
Armed with doubts, apprehensions, and numerous questions, young high school students set out to meet with professionals. With a panel of 400 programs available on site, the diversity meets the demand. From short to long studies, vocational training to university, private sector to public, there is something for everyone: from the military to commerce, through medicine and the arts to prestigious schools. One can even find out about studying abroad, in Canada or the USA, for instance.
In short, listing all the different programs available wouldn’t be useful and would take hours. What matters is whether our “young blond heads” have found a good fit.
Thomas is a 17-year-old high school student from the town of Valdeblore, who attended the fair with his school. His perspective is clear: “It’s a good experience for those who don’t know what to do after their BACCALAUREAT. I want to work in construction, and this fair has only confirmed my choice.” In addition to having found answers to his questions, Thomas can also consider attending an open day for the program he has chosen.
That is the goal of this fair, allowing two worlds to meet before making a commitment.
This is what drove Elodie and Laura, two high school students from Valbonne, to come and gather information. With two different orientations, the young women have had their questions answered. Elodie made good use of her time as she “compared, exchanged, and discussed with the different schools that matched her.” Laura, on the other hand, is a little disappointed, she found “no one to talk to. There were too many people so I took the brochures and left but I will probably come back tomorrow with my parents.”
It’s an extremely important step in these young high schoolers’ lives, it’s good to be able to help them, direct them, guide them towards their future. A beautiful project that requires time and reflection and sometimes a little help, so thank you to Studyrama on behalf of all the future students.
