Twenty-four hours after the disaster, traffic in the valleys remains a crucial issue. It is essential to be able to deliver emergency aid, basic necessities, water, and electricity.
The Nice Côte d’Azur Metropolis is responsible for the department’s roads. Its president, Christian Estrosi, made a point of providing an update this Sunday noon at Terminal 1 of the Nice Côte d’Azur airport, where people repatriated from the affected areas were being received.
“I will not allow any information to circulate regarding traffic. I commit to allowing individuals to drive within a week and emergency services within 24 hours,” declared Christian Estrosi, president of the Metropolis, during a press briefing at Terminal 1 of the airport where storm survivors were gathered.
Since yesterday, the Metropolis services have been working towards a single goal: “No community within the metropolis should be inaccessible” to emergency and public service vehicles. Initially, this does not concern private vehicles, as in some cases, it would involve makeshift roads.
