It also allows people with mental, physical, or sensory disabilities to be valued through adapted sports practice and thus experience the same sensations as able-bodied participants.
Various sports activities will be offered: Football, table tennis, handball, judo, mountain biking, pรฉtanque, tandem cycling, push cycling, horse riding, gymnastics, running/wheelchair racing, goalball, sailing initiation, caving, and swimming.
All Together is an event aimed at valuing people with disabilities through sport and demonstrating that everyone can showcase achievements that are quantifiable and comparable in every way to those of able-bodied individuals.
The proposed activities are adapted according to the types, degrees, and varieties of disability, allowing each participant to discover the different families of sports activities. This event has existed for many years. Initially labeled “Week of People with Disabilities” and then, since 1997, in its current form, focusing on introductory and competitive sports practices.
It is organized by the Mission Handicaps of the Social Action for Early Childhood and Disability Department of the City of Nice, in collaboration with the Sports Department. Also noteworthy is a partnership with ASBPT for the caving activity.
A call for volunteers among Nice’s city staff has been launched to provide logistical support throughout this week.
The target audience
The event is open to associations for people with disabilities upon registration; however, the site remains accessible to the public.
Some figures
46 centers or establishments will be represented, with over 1,700 registrations for all sports and activities.
Among the main activities, one can mention climbing with an adapted wall, attracting 166 registrants, and horse riding with 133 participants.
A carriage tour will be offered for those with more limited mobility.
Another initiation that sees great success every year is Sailing at the Port of Nice, thanks to a partnership with the nautical club and the nautical base, and for the first time this year, tours on traditional boats with the club La Mouette. This year, 160 young people or adults will have the opportunity to try this sport.
Friday, June 4th, will see the conclusion of this beautiful week with a race in the morning where everyone can push themselves but also show solidarity by running with visually impaired or disabled people.
A buffet will be served to all participants, after which awards will be presented. The CCAS and the Union of Blind Civilians will offer a performance, and an afternoon dance will close the event.
Additionally, association booths will present the activities and services they offer for people with disabilities.
