-We’re not trees! A play written and directed by Hazar Selam

A satirical comedy of manners, tinged with dark humor about love, death, and the sometimes ambiguous relationship we have with them in our modern society.

Starring: Hazar Selam, Jérôme Lerrant, Cyrielle Prat, Catherine Grammosenis, Didier Théron, Axel Bianchi, Philippe Roy, and Jean-François Benest alternately

Summary:

Julia, a single woman in her thirties, has the habit of controlling and planning everything to cope with her anxieties, because as she puts it: “if you anticipate the problems, chance, that rotten thing that wants to sneak into your life to mess it up, is blocked from all sides and will then go bother someone else.”

She does the same with the men she meets and does not understand her romantic failures, but she still believes in Prince Charming because she is: “like her friends the wolves, penguins, or lovebirds, faithful and wholehearted in love until death.”

She therefore asks her parents to act responsibly by preparing their funerals. The latter, too busy “exchanging” themselves at swinger parties, prefer her to handle it. From there arises the encounter with completely wacky characters…
