Daniele Luchetti will be the patron of Cinéalma 2010.

Born on July 26, 1960, in Rome. He pursued studies in Literature and Art History. A friend of Nanni Moretti, he made a brief appearance in Bianca (1983) before being an assistant director on La Messe est finie in 1985. He acted again in Palombella rossa (1989).

He makes commercials. In 1998, he wrote and directed his first feature Domani, Domani, which featured his favorite actress Margherita Buy. The film earned him the Donatello for Best New Director. In 1990, La semaine du sphinx followed, continuing with Margherita Buy, in which he paid homage to his favorite director, François Truffaut.

The following year he shot Il portaborse, the film of his breakthrough. Considered his best film to date, Il portaborse was even the first of Luchetti’s films to be distributed in France. He also received the Donatello for Best Screenplay. Il portaborse addresses political corruption in Italy at the end of the 1980s.

In 2001, he participated in the project “Another World is Possible”: a collective documentary signed by almost all Italian filmmakers in activity, from Marco Bellocchio to Francesca Comencini, including the Taviani brothers, Michele Placido, or Marco Tullio Giordana.

In 2007, “My Brother is an Only Child” was presented in the “Un Certain Regard” section at the Cannes Film Festival, reconciling audiences with Luchetti’s cinema.

In 2010, “La nostra vita” was presented in official competition at the Cannes Film Festival. The film won the Best Actor Award for Elio Germano.

The soul of the Mediterranean, values of exchange, humanism, and solidarity.

Nice Premium wanted to give “la parola” to Charles Scibetta, who, along with Latifa Madani and Sandra Fasolla, embodies the spirit of the event:

‘Cinéalma is a gateway to the Mediterranean, bringing together both Maghreb countries and Southern Europe and the Middle East.
Valuing the diversity of expressions and cultures of the Mediterranean basin, this festival contributes to the discovery of a shared heritage.

At its heart lies the evolution of representations of the other and the promotion of exchange, humanism, and peace.
Cinéalma provides an opportunity for films that exist only through festivals, celebrates works that have marked the cinematic news, gives a new impulse to films that went unnoticed due to lack of copies and screens, encourages the distribution of premieres.

Whether the films are of auteur or mainstream – sometimes reconciling the two for the better – feature-length or medium-length, fictions or documentaries, trial balloons or masterstrokes, the essential is they imprint on the public, make them react, and lead them to reflect.
Sometimes provocative, often poignant, these films always provide a fresh view of the desires they stir and the lives they embrace. Thus, Cinéalma succeeds in the challenge of a local event combining quality with accessibility, scrutiny with popularity, excellence with solidarity.

This year, part of the symbolic 1€ participation requested from spectators will be donated to the association L’Heure Joyeuse, which works to fight against exclusion and promote the social and professional integration of the disadvantaged population in Casablanca, Morocco.

The day before the opening, Thursday, October 14 at 8:30 pm, the Forum J. Prévert has programmed Sacrifices by Nouara Naghouche.

An exhibition of cinema posters, in partnership with the General Council of the Alpes Maritimes, will be held in the hall of the Juliette Gréco hall throughout the festival.
Cinéalma is co-organized by the City of Carros and the associations Cinéactions and Festival TransMediterranée with the support of the PACA Region, the General Council of the Alpes-Maritimes, the ACSE, the CMCAS of Nice, and many other partners.

Thanks to everyone, as well as the associations and the many volunteers who fully contribute to the success of Cinéalma.
